On January 16 of 2020, a new paper was published by our post doctoral researcher, Gabriela D. A. Guardia, in collaboration with researchers from the Children's Cancer Research Institute (UT Health San Antonio) and the Centre for Genomic Regulation (The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology). Entitled "Proneural and mesenchymal glioma stem cells display major differences in splicing and lncRNA profiles", the paper was published in NPJ Genomic Medicine and describes critical differences in the splicing profiles and expression of long non-coding RNAs between proneural and mesenchymal glioma stem cells (GSCs), which may contribute to the uniqueness of these two GSC subgroups, thus contributing to cancer phenotypes and explaining differences in therapeutic responses.
